What is On site Emergecny Plan or Emergency preparedness plan?

As per name itself show the objective of the onsite emergency plan or Emergency preparedness plan, it is related to handle the emergency situation at workplace or factory or other occupational workplace . it is a authentic document or guide which tell us how to deal with different type of emegency situiation if occur at site . it is a mandatory and crucial document of factory or workplace site . Emergency plan should be there in each and evry factory specially in chemical, Oil and gas, Pharma , engineering and off sore work.

Is there any Legal, Statutory and Other Requirement pertinent to Emergency Plan?

In indian perspective , the Matters realted to factory is enfocre by Directorate of industrial safety and health of different region , zone or area alloted .All the factory in india regulated by The factory act 1948 and satate rule framed under the factory Act.

As per factory act-1948 , Chapter IV -A , Special Provision to hazardous process, section 41-B, sub section ((4), stated that it is duty of every employer to drawing a onsite emergency plan with approval of DISH office and make know to all worker employed and general public also. Another rule Like MSIHC -1989 also required to formulate the Emergency Plan. So it is a statutory requirement of various act and rule to prepare the Emergency Plan. All the State rule also require the Emergency plan for prescribed factory in their jurisdiction and area of concern.

As per ISO 450001, Clause 8 , Operation Planning and control, Sub clause no 8.2, it is mandatory requirement to prepare the emergency plan, conduct mock drill and keep the documented information as evidence of both. Other requirement also there regarding Emergency Planning and control.

What Content should be there in Emergency plan ?

In some statutory Like State Rule, Prescribed the format with content of emergency Plan. MSIHC rule -1989 also determine the mandatory content as format but there is no thumb rule for special about content of emergency plan. Generally the following content are formulate a detailed and comprehensive Emergency Plan if we include in to the same .

Mock Drill or Rehearsal of Emergency Plan

Generally the Mock drill for Onsite Emergecny Plan should be condcuted atleast once in six Month. but it is depend on how many emergecy secenarios area there in Plan. Accrdingly the Mock drill to be conducted . Mock drill conduction is mandatory requirement under different statutory Provision like factory Act, MSIHC rule, State factory rule etc. A documenetd evidence of mock drill to be preaperd and keep as record with photograps of drill is a good practice to show the compliance of requirement.
